Spinning Deer hair

Tie the thread on to the rear of the hook and look it on. No glue.

Cut off a clump of deer hair about 1/16 inch in diameter.  Holding it by the tips, pull out any loose under fur.  Lay the hair across the shank of the hook, placing it about inch over the hook and tie a figure tight eight around it.  Trim the material on the sides to the same inch length.  Pull the thread tight and the hair will roll around the hook and spread out.

Push the ball of hair to the rear and wrap a turn of thread around the shank.

Tie on another clump of deer hair and repeat the above procedure till you have enough material for the fly you are tying.

Subject: [VFB] anybody out there?

Anybody have any tips for stacking deer hair.  1st of all what hair works best for this, i.e.. belly, tail, body?  2nd The 1st understack goes on great but the 1st top stack and everyone there after just wants to spin as well as the bottom.  I am using 6/0 thread should I use something stronger to bind in tighter?  Thanks for the help.
