DAVE,
You are an adventerous person!!!! takeing your new bride to "The Bates Hotel" as we love to call the Elms.... wish I'd have known you were going to stay there I would have recommended the air Mattress... actually a "atmosphere" type Hotel that is Dirt Cheap... Besides what did you think of that "flyfishing shrine" lobby at the Place????
Your Caddis pupa is certianly something one must have on the LOW O... about now is perfect to start fishing them... the Caddis are getting active & the Browns and Rainbows will start keying in on them, as you did notice...you haven't lived until you are attempting to fish during a "blizzard Hatch" of Caddis on the Low O.. millions of Caddis fluttering everywhere...trout going Nuts!!!!!
We should plan something for this coming Fall.....
Dean...

Group,
I am back from a few days fishing the Low O. Dean Endress gave me a lot
of advice before we left and the trip was awesome. My wife and I were
fishing together and this would be her first trout on a fly in a river.
We stayed at the Elms motel in Bishop, Ca., I need to remember to bring
an air mattress next time as it was the hardest mattress I've ever tried
to sleep on!
All the fish except one were caught on my caddis pupa, Here's the
pattern:
Hook: #18 Mustad 80200br curved caddis hook
Thread: 8/0 Black
Body: Caddis green Quick descent dubbing
Head: 2 turns of dark brown Ostrich herl
