There are dozens of patterns out there called 'flashback' nymphs.  The 1st
time I remember using reflective materials was putting a piece of tinsel
either above or below the Swannundaze wraps on the tail of a stonefly.
Those who remember that material can tell you the time period this is.
Under the Swan called for a clear color, whereas over the Swan called for a
wire ribbing follow-up to recreate the segments.

That gives me an idea.  We were very limited on the 'flash' materials back
then.  There are tons of them today.  I gotta pull down my box of
Swannundaze and try some of the new pearls and holographics under the
Swannundaze.  Could look pretty awesome.  Back to the bench.  :o)

Some styles to look up:  Flashback nymphs, flashback scuds, mirror minnows.

As far as fishability, it's worked both ways for me.  Sometimes flash is the
ticket, other times not.
