I attended the memorial service for Tom Nixon today. The major speakers were his son, Tom, Jr., and Tom's younger brother Bill. both had many stories to tell about Tom. I learned somethings about Tom that I didn't know. for example Tom at one time was the youngest Eagle Scout in the U.S. Ron Begnaud, a mem ber of the local flyfishing club that Tom belonged to also spoke. There was a display of the awards that tom, had recieved, quite a few of the flies he had tied and leaning against the table was his flyrod, strung up and ready to be used (Tom didn't go for real fancy equipment - he was still using a fiberglass rod that he had at least 15 years).
Tom's remains were cremated and will interred next to his wife in Hematite, Missouri, the town in which Tom spent many years growing up. I just thought I'd report some of what I heard and learned today.
