Mark,
I said I would swear off fly swaps for the summer also, but..... I will
sign up for this one. I cherish the Calcasieu Pig Boat Tom tied for me
last year complete with spinner! I will tentatively tie either the Cajun
Coachman or Arkansas Cajun Coachman, will have to check the book tonight.

I said I'd swear off fly swaps for the summer, but after the meeting of the
local fly club, i'm going to try to host one. As I posted earlier to the
list, Tom Nixon, a pioneer in flytying and flyfishing for bass and panfish
passed away on May 29th. Our local fly club (Contraband Fly Casters, Tom
Nixon Chapter) holds a yearly conclave (dates are variable, from September
through February are possible). Tom tied and gave demonstrations for free
at every one of these conclaves in Lake Charles. I'd like to host this
swap of his fly patterns and ask that the participants tie 2 extra flies.
One set would be for a shadow box for the club, and the other set to be
auctioned off. A list of some of the patterns Tom developed is below. If
needed I can provide a scan of the finished fly and diretions for tying any
of these patterns.
Bif Fly
Badger Streamer
Crappie Mickey
Penguin
Sowela
YBP-2
Albino
Beaux
Belle
Black Bird
Bumble Grizzly
Bumble Puppy
Bumble Zebra
Calcasieu Pigboat
Chitto Squirrel
Mickey Brim
Moss Bluff Special
White Tail Grizzly
Arkansas Cajun Coachman
Brim Charmeauxse
Cajun Coachman
.56%er
SQT56
various rabbit fur leeches
This list is by no means complete. I'm not setting a limit of participants
and hope to get a nice group of tyers. The finished flies will also be
displayed at the Contraband Fly Casters website,
http://cbfc0.tripod.com , as well as my own web site (shown below) with due
credit given each tyer. I'm looking at Labor Day weekend as a potential
completion date (I'll either have to buy an appropriate shadow box or make
one, so I'll need a little time as well). I'm not choosing a fly for
myself yet, since there are plenty of good patterns. Please consider
joining this swap!
