Went to The Patuxent River here in MD. About 5 mins into the trip i hooked a sucker on an olive & black bugger. I thought it was some mad crazy rainbow but not so. I didn't despair though cuz it gave me a hell of a thrill! I missed a hook-up under an overhang and another in an undercut. I resharpened the bugger but the action was off due to the sun and heat. So i went exploring. Its amazing what u find if u just hunt around a bit. Upon overturning a rock in the stream, there were these little 1/2 inch trout still in their yolk sacks stuck to the rock with some sticky substance. That was quite amazing. Then, as i looked behind my waders, there were these little 3 inch parr hanging out. About an hour later, a doe came down for a long drink at the stream. She was about 50 ft from me and a sight to behold! Later, though they weren't biting, there were 3 large trout (18+ inches) at the bottom of a clear channell in the middle of a large slow pool. Got my blood pumping :-) About an hour before leaving, i discovered a really nice spot on the stream...It is this small dry gravel bed which drops down into a little undercut bank which promises to be full of trout. I'll be returning there again on Saturday.

No high compares to a fish at the end of the line.
