Hello Everyone
I have been experimenting with wings for mayflie patterns. A most satisfactory  material I found is Bounce fabric softener sheets. After the sheet has been used for the laundry I take the used sheet, wash it thoroughly, dye it the appropriate colour, dry it and iron it flat. I cut the sheets into strips. Then use a wing burner to shape the wing, and tie it in the usual manner. By using a wing burner it melts the excess material which forms a ridgid outline for the wing. I found that rit dye works very well and pearl grey, tan and black give me the colours that meet my needs for the mayflies in my area. Hope some members of the list will give this a try would like to here how it turns out.
Regards
Mel
