I think what's going to happen is what you're going to start seeing all through the industry. Most of the rod manufacturers are starting to step back from the lifetime, no-holds barred warranty. They finally figured out that no matter how much you charge for a rod, they can't make a good profit with a no-hassle lifetime warranty. Just to expensive in the long run.

One item that is not addressed in this announcement is how the takeover will affect Redington's long standing warranty policy on its rods. (No fault, free repair / replacement whether or not you are the original owner.)

One of my favorite rods is a Redington DFR 9'- 5 wt. I have always relied on the comfort of knowing that I would never be without that rod or its future replacement.

I can hope that all will turn out to the better, but I am not very optimistic. Will Sage change the warranty policy?
