When I was in Mexico a couple months ago I stayed in an eco park and ran into the same thing. :0( They use the feathers for their local art projects. Under CITES I don't think even they can do that. The only people allowed to use and possess some of these feathers here are American Indians for religious and ceremonial projects and they have to be prove their heritage and can't sell or distribute them. The law is similiar in Mexico but they seem more relaxed about it. They just don't distribute them. I tried to call here to see if a letter head from the eco park for flamingo feathers would be alright to prove captive birds and they said nope. It does seem like a waste but that's the only way to protect the birds. Deb
