Patrick I was wondering if this Safari is in Canada.  I read somewhere that Canada will allow you to use the molted Flamingo feathers for certain things.   Let me know if you do find out something different there.  I called our Rhode Island Fish and Wildlife and they were flocking them into the Migratory Birds (I have yet to see a wild Flamingo in Rhode Island).   They can never answer my questions on the first call.  They always have to call me back and I'm not sure they are always interpreting CITES correctly.  I usually have to check at least three sources on birds and they are all confused.  It seems that each state also has different rules regarding the birds and animals.  Try reading the CITES site sometime just for fun.   It boggles my mind.   I'm not even sure how up to date they keep it.  Look forward to hearing what you find out.  As far as I could tell there were only a few protected species of flamingo and I don't remember what categories they were in.  I was thinking until I called the state that they would probably be safe to use these feathers (they were a pretty common captive flamingo).  After talking with them I didn't want to get the feathers for fear my friend in Mexico may also get in serious trouble if they were reading it correctly.  I really don't want to mess with questionable feathers.  I just really wish I could find a more knowledgeable source to answer my questions.
