Went out Saturday moring with the wind blowing
about 15 to 20 mph. Nice wind for the tmeperature but hard to cast into.
Finally figures out that what they would hit was a
size 10 or 12 leech like fly.Put on a bead head and tie in a green marabout
tail. coat he thread wraps with finger nail polish. Warap the
Marabou up the shank, Palmer the thread over it a few times fairly widely
spaced.
If I could get it cast into the wind and retrieve
it with a lift and drop then the fish would swim with it and nibble at the tail
and maybe furthur up. I saw several that had ahold of the tail, but
nothing more on the fly. Lost the tail marabou of 4 of these things.
Did manage to catch a few that hit it harder.
I did not know that I had many of them on until I started to lift the fly and
then it was to late.
Just as I was leaving the wind stopped and I could
see down ito the water about 8 feet. Had schools of fish swim by that
amazed me with the numbers. Some were crappie and some were gills.
Spend the last 15 minutes catching 30 fish. Great
fun to watch them come up and hit the fly. totaled 36 for the day.
