I wrote that thing about educating Californians about how disliked
we are in Oregon as a Joke.... I have visted Oregon anumber of Times
& have always been treated really well by the "locals". I have a
number of friends who call Oregon Home & they never tell me things
like..."Stay out of here, we all hate you..." or something like that.
I just posted that as a reply against what I took to be an attack
on All Californians in General.. (Not syaing that Wes was doing it
all his self...)
I fully understand Wes's resentment of a Number of Californians
moving into His town & messing it up by bringing in way too many
people... But I can't believe for a moment that it is all
Californians who are to be blamed for this happening. I live just NW
of Los Angeles..(Land of the Lost)& we have problems with Developers
that are far worse(in scope anyhow)then what is happening in Bend. I
HATE Developers with a passion because all they are looking at is the
dollar signs in front of their eyes.. They never show any concern for
the local folks, the local economy, the Traffic conditions that will
result from them building a 3000 housing tract...in Southern
California that is already Overly Populated...I seriously wish the
powers that be would put a 10 year freeze on anymore development/
housing tracts/ new communities, ETC. But because it will line their
overly stuffed pockets even more..that ain't likely to happen.
PRAY TO MONEY...it's the New Religion....
I do defend my State, as i dislike being attacked when it probally
isn't all California's fault... I am very certian that a number of
those Developers in Oregon are Native Oregonians... quest for mucho
Money will transform many folks.
As to no outta staters visting Oregon... While Wes may think it's
Perfectly acceptable...I seriously doubt Retail shops, Bed &
breakfast places, Gas Station owners,Fly Shops, Guides, etc. would
agree... They would suffer from the Lose of Revenue during the Summer
months..when lotsa of those types of places make their biggest amount
of income.. Yeah, Locals & Actually Oregonians may patronize the
places...but it's the Tourist bucks that sustain them for the year.
I actually now want to arrange a fishing trip to Bend, I want Wes
to help me with the Local waters, I want him to take me to the
Metolius for those Big Bull Trout, I want him to "Guide" me on the
Crooked River for the Native Redbands I've always read about in that
river... I ahevn't visted Bend in 10 plus years...so I would imagine
things will certianly be different...and as Wes reports things will
be for the worst...
I smypathize with the Development overload in Bend... But Please do
not Blame it ALL ON FOLKS FROM CALIFORNIA.....
