In answer to your question..here is what John found out with regard to
burnt orange. I got a great pink with, I believe, watermelon or watermelon
kiwi. Have fun..great dye and so easy to use. Be sure to use 2 ounces of
vinegar with every 6 ounces of water, heat to boiling in the microwave (be
careful bringing it out as it can bubble over on your hand and scald you),
then stir in the kool aide. You will, of course, have prewashed (in Dawn or
similar liquid) and rinsed your feathers so they are now very wet and will
absorb the dye well. After the Kool Aide has stopped bubbling, cover the
feathers and fir with the Kool Aide and put the cover on your disposable
dish (I use the ones from Glad). When all the color has disappeared from
the water, they are done. You can get more vibrant colors by adding more
Kool Aide. The single package will dye about 2 ounces by weight very nicely.
