I clean my lines regularly (at least once a month-more often if they need it). I fish on a regular basis at least once a week this time of year -- more often in the spring and fall. So my lines get regular use. Some of my lines a many years old and show no signs of cracking or deterioration. I use Cortland 333 and 444 lines. I also have a SA line. They never come off the reel except for cleaning. They are stored in the house. They are always put away dry.

Good lines deserve regular maintenance and will last indefinitely if taken care of. However, once cracking occurs, kiss it good bye.
