Try empty biro pen refil or even Q-tip tube or any fine plastic. to hold them cut the eye off any large diameter hook and file shank to a taper. You just push the tube onto the tapered shank till it friction sticks in place, tie the fly and pull the tube off. Wing much lighter than appears normal in the USA you will catch more fish. I am really interested in tying some tube flies, but until I get the hang of
it and find it useful, I really don't want to invest in any pricey gear.
I have a Renzetti Traveller Cam lock, is there some way that I can hold a tube
still without getting the tube fly head?
What can I use for the tubes? Should I buy the specially designed tubes, or
are there substitutes that are easily available? Metal, Plastic, or ?
