Thanks to all who answered. The information and links are great!  This list is certainly a wonderful resource.  I printed out the global fly fisher article and might try to construct a few shoooting heads. For practice, I've got a few old lines I can experiment with. I don't know if I'll have the time before my season is over this year, so I may just start out with a "store bought" line and get a feel for it. Thanks again! BTW Dean the 300 foot casts I was referring to were with spinning outfits.  :)   John B
