Jerry,
In 1998 we bought a '97 Blazer 4wd with 12,000 miles on it. The dealership wanted $3000 for the extended warranty. I turned it down. When we went to our credit union I asked them if they offered the extended warranty. They did . The cost was only $800, so I got it. They also informed me that you can go directly to the Insurance co. to purchase it, and that many lending institutions will offer it with no mark up. Was it worth it? You bet! At 52,000 miles the torque converter went out taking the transmission with it. The total repair cost was almost $2400. Our out of pocket expense was only $73. (fluid & gaskets) So it definitely paid for itself. Would I do it it again? Yes. In fact I have it on my GMC truck.

VFB,
My daughter is in the process of purchasing a
used car. I have Car Faxed it and she has had Certified
Mechanic inspect it. Both with excellent results !!
She is thinking of purchasing an extended warranty policy
and I think it is a good idea. Does any one on the list have
some expertise in this area.
Thanks.
