I have been through two fishing vehicles in the last six months. The one that went on the most journeys was my Toyota Tacoma. I stole a huge silver box from my dad and strapped it into the bed of the pickup. I had most everything in that thing, You cant put much into the cab of a tacoma. It was 4x4 and I had some bigger tires on it so it pretty much went anywhere and everywhere I wanted to go with the thing. I climbed mountains in Coloroda,Wyoming, and Montana with it and flooded soybean fields in AR. I have know graduated up to a Toyota Tundra and I think I am going to like it a lot more. It took me a week to get all the crap out of it from my last trip and My GF still swears that a mildewed fishing net takes the new car smell right out but I disagreed. I dont think she likes my mudd tires either, she knows it will get abused fishing and duck hunting.

Subject: [VFB] Fishing Car - Survey

After I put out today's quote, I thought it might be fun to query the
list as to what each of you use for your fishing car/truck. I'm sure
this will run the gamut from ragged pick ups and cars to family
cars/trucks to "custom" fishing vehicles and for the rich ones, maybe a
HUMMER. LOL ! I'm just wondering what modifications have you made, if
any, to your fishing vehicle to ease your trip to and from the stream
and your overnight camping while fishing. Mine is a 1996 4-door F350
diesel pick up. I've added a big locking aluminum tool box on the bed,
just behind the rear window. Here I carry a floor jack, 4-way lug
wrench, heavy duty jumper cables, and a 10X12 tarp, just in case it's
needed. Also I have my streamside fly tying kit, a sleeping bag, air
mattress, pop-up dome tent, propane stove, Boy Scout Patrol cook kit, an
extra fuel filter for the truck and an assortment of wrenches, etc. I
also put all my fishing gear that I won't use except my fly rods, which
I store out of sight behind the rear seat. Don't want to run the chance
of having my truck broken into when someone spies my fishing gear, like
what happened to Del Roberts earlier this year.

LEMME HEAR FROM YOU - What's your fishing vehicle ??? Any modifications
???

Have a Great Day

P.S. YES, I'M STILL A PRISONER IN MY OWN HOME - NO DRIVING, RIDING, ETC.
TILL I go see my doc on the 12th. Hopefully he'll clear me to resume my
normal activities. So . . . like I said earlier, I tie flies, manage
the three swaps I'm currently meistering, play on the computer and
lastly aggravate you guys. Hey - a guy's gotta do what he's gotta do!
