 DAVE,

I learned about the 80501BLs from Terry Hellekson's  "Fish Flies,Vol. #2". Terry really touted about the hook...Longer Shank, the bend was right, great point, smooth finish... So, of Course, seeing as Terry fishes the Same California Steelhead rivers as myself..I figured to buy some.

I really did like them from the getgo.. I even liked the Down eye on them... which to this day Folks are always amazed at.. fits well with the style of Hooks they tyed Steelhead flies on in the 30's thru 50's.... but has that "Classic" Japanned Black Finish.. too Classy...

I have also noticed the 80501BLs have great hooking ability... I have never lost a Steelhead on one.

So, of Course, since I really liked them & wanted more- Mustad had discontinued them due to poor overall sales ( I guess most Steelheaders want that Upeyed thing or nothing at all....???). I did locate some folks in Utah who had a big backstock of them & proceeded to purchase as much as I could. I'd have to say I'm set for sizes #1 thru #10...but I should always be on the look out for additional stock...

Hows your inventory going Dave????? Email off list if you want to barter...
