Gary, Reminds me of an April Fool's piece I read a couple years back on how to build spline-less leaders... What you describe is most likely due to to a minor flaw in your casting stroke. If you track 'true' in your casting stroke, i.e. travel in a single plane, the line and leader will end up straight. Cureve out of this plane, and the line and leader will follow your movement. Perhaps getting someone who understands casting mechanics well to observe your casting should get you a more definitive answer. Best, Hans
