I agree totally with Dean – it’s definitely not a numbers game. I just spent two days fishing the American river in Sacramento (who says you have to drive for hours to find a steelhead river – it’s only 1.5 hrs from Modesto). I didn’t catch any. Did hook one fish which I think was probably a salmon. Had fun playing it for quite a while but then got in a hurry and applied too much pressure and … plink! …broke off – c’est la vie; c’est la guerre. It was a fun two days.

 You should get plenty of good, solid imformation as to the current state of Northern California Steelhead Rivers..

  And always Remember.... STEELHEAD FLYFISHING IS NOT A NUMBERS GAME. I Always try to get that point across, cause I've had a Friend get all bent out of shape because he spent 4 days fishing for Yuba Steelies & had one take..which he then "Farmed".... But I'm sure you are already aware Dave that it ain't no Numbers Game...
