The Sulky brand thread comes on a spool and is the size to fit through a sewing machine needle. This makes it a bit smaller that standard DMC embroidery thread. The Sulky is a bit tighter woven as well and you get a lot for the money on the spool. You can find it in the machine embroidery section of your favorite sewing store.
Wooly nylon comes in two weights, the regular and one that I believe is called extra or heavy weight. the finer is what I use for the bodies of flies up to size 12.  the bigger can be used for bigger flies (I onlyhave it in black as I've found the other works just great.
To use it on a super humpy, first put on the deer hair tail. Tie on the red (or whatever color) Wooly nylon. Tie on two white Phentex wings.  Tie on the bottom part of the 1/4 inch strip of grey or tan foam, then wrap the woolly nylon over the tied on foam. Tie off the wooly nylon. . Bring the foam over to the back of the white wings and tie down with regular thread.  Put the hackle on and wind before and after the white wings. Makes a float forever humpy that is easy to see.
