Aaron: It may come down to whether you just want to have
your flies in a shop, or actually try to make a living at
it. I think that it would be extremely difficult as an
American, who is accustomed to making a decent living, to
make any money by tying for an American fly shop You must
be extremely fast, ( flies per hour) and the quality must be
consistently high. You would also need an excellent
wholesale source for your supplies. I will wager the best
way to make any money is to develop a list of private
clients who will order X number of dozens of flies in these
patterns and in such and such sizes. They might be
individuals, or guides, or guide shops. Just rattling off
the top of my head. Good luck.

Hello,
I have a question, and I am sure that it is one that
has been asked by many people on this site...how does one go
about finding a fly tying job? I am sure that many places
purchase from a distributer who gets their flies from
overseas locations, but there are probably places that look
to purchase domestically as well.
