Jimmy, thanks for the extra info. I think this is the last extra question that I have (for now!) Regarding licenses - is it possible to buy a license that covers the whole of the US or do you need to buy one for each individual state? Mid-grade is $1.34 and Super is $1.44.  The farther north and west you get, the more expensive the gasoline, like $1.80 for regular in the far west US.  15,000 miles sounds a little low to me for when Jody and I travel to Oregon to see her mom, it's 4,600 miles round trip.  From here to Ancorage, AK is around 8,000 miles. To go up and down like you're talking about is going to cost a fortune, then you have to add motels and meals.  I certainly wouldn't think of camping it.  Used to think nothing of camping on way to OR, but not anymore - just not safe.  Start like in Maine - Vermont, head down I-95 to Florida, then across I-10 to I-65, and up through B'ham and on up to Indiana, then across on I- forget which one it is, to I-35 in Minneapolis, then south on I-35 all the way to Lorado, TX, etc, etc.  Lot of driving, but lots easier if you stay on Interstate Hwys. You can go to mapquest.com and pull a map of the US and the Interstate system and plot it out that way.  Yeah, you don't want to go E to W, for you're talking 3,500 miles + Cheers, JIMMY  D
