You can get some great peacock dubbing recipes from Byard's page with the peacock dubbing swap. My own experience is to choose which yarn/wool/acrylic that you want as your basic color, then choose one that is lighter and brighter and one that is duller and a bit darker. Put a bit of the  lighter and darker in with the main color, add whatever furs you wish, a bit of sparkle ( I really like UV dub a few cut up bits and the salmon shiny hair(Polaraire)  cut in 1/4 and 1/8 inch pieces).  Give it a few whirs in the blender and you are all set.     I always write down how many inches of each yarn I use so that I can duplicate the mix again as needed.  Check out your yarn shops for mohair, Lions' blends of wool and acrylic.  The reason you don't stick with a single shade is that when you look at natural things, they are more than one shade of each color..I believe this makes a difference to the fish as flies tied with blends do better (for me) than those of a single color.     PS: Be sure to keep your wools with some moth balls or cedar as moths really like to get in them. And, you will find in the knitting stores some wonderful DMC and Persian wools in any color your can imagine..I use them all the time. Joyce
