Here is the fly pattern.

HORSE HAIR BEETLE 3/8

HOOK: KAMASAN B401, size 10 14
THREAD: Black
BODY: Fiery brown angora dubbing
LEGS: Horse tail hair, kinked with a hot dubbing needle
SHELLBACK: Black closed cell foam
HEAD: Butt from shellback

General beetle pattern, good around flooded lake margins.
NOTE: A white dot painted on the back makes it easier to keep track of this
fly.

The fly is tied by tying in the foam, protruduing out the rear, then 3 horse
hairs are tied in with fig 8 wraps. The body is then dubbed, and the foam
pulled over and tied off, either at the eye or down the shank a bit to give
a head. The horse hair can be kinked into egs and feet by heating up a
dubbing needle, and touching the hair. It pays to experiment here! Happy
tying>
