To throw out a question, Is there an indepth book describing the origins of various
patterns? An example would be how the trude evolved from Harrison's 1909 pattern to
the Sofa Pillow by Pat Barnes in the 1940's, to the Rio Grande King or the present day
Trude al la Dan Bailey? We fish with a Sierra Bright Dot here in the Sierras. This is
a fore and aft pattern. Who came up with this design and why has it remained a
particularly regional dry fly over a long period of time?
As Joyce would say "Inquiring minds need to know".
