An interesting thing about the Cushing dyes is that they can be used to dye feathers without heat. Chemically they are the same as the Washfast dyes. Prochemical.com has directions for doing this: http://www.prochemical.com/directions/WF_SilkFeathers.htm . I talked to a chemist at Prochem and he told me that the results are relatively fast.
