You might want to check out Harry's stuff... I watched in amazement one day while he tied one. My wife has one of his hand tied masterpieces... she lets me act like its mine so that's cool. <Grin> http://espn.go.com/outdoors/flyfishing/s/ff_fea_pro_Lemire_Freeman.html

Deb, No I don't. I wish I could though. John Betts once did an article in Fly Tyer magazine about putting together a small, portable tying kit. To make it as light as possible he showed how to tie without a vise. The fly tying book written by Henn also tells how to tie by hand. For most of history people have tied without a vise. The Flydresser Presentation website shows some classic salmon flies tied by hand. For me it would be an added challenge which I don't need just yet (understatement). Bill Are you saying you tie your classic salmon flies by hand with out the use of a vise? Curious minds want to know. Don, I like it when I want to really crank out some flies. For flies that are tied "in the round" like a Woolly Bugger; the speed and precision are unbeatable. The machine made look might not appeal in a classic salmon fly where tied in the hand without any vise is considered the peak of the art.
