Check with your dentist, they use latex sheets for dental dams. I have some real nice colors from a dentist that used to be on this list.

There's a material called "Scud Back", sort of a stretchy plastic strip that would work. It comes in several widths and colors, including clear. If all else fails, you can always just cut a strip from a Zip-Lock baggie for the shell back. That works fine.
