Try using some Gorilla glue (polyurethrane) with a bit of a "cloth tape"
type backing..have not tried it, but have found that Gorilla glue, while
slow to dry, doesn't come apart like other glues do. Perhaps a bit of duct
tape for the taping of the back after the Gorilla glue is on might help. As
said before..have not tried it, but think it might work. Joyce
