Joyce   Our Post Office confirms that they do not have any kind of money/postal order agreement with the US. We do however have a postal order agreement with the UK. My bank's forex department state that you can transfer monies directly into my account for a handling fee (I'd imagine you would have to check that with your bank) and I would have to negotiate an exchange rate with my bank.
