Reading this thread has brought back memories of summers as a kid riding
my bike (wearing waders) to lake galena in PA and using these wooden
poppers from sears on bass. I used to slay em all day long right out of
the grass and pads. I'm gonna have to dust off my old poppers and try
this again. I caught so many bass that the guys I fished with refused
to come anymore (with their spinning rods) they also decided one day
that I was insufferable and threw me and my bike off the end of a dock.

I just picked up a bunch of the old Herters hooks that were made for
popper
bodies. They still sell similar hooks but these came in really small
sizes
also. I'm going to make them into poppers for Bass and Bluegills out of
small corks. You can cheat and buy the small bottle stopper style of
cork
already close to popper shape at the craft or hardware stores and cut a
flat
bottom and groove and you're ready to paint.
I also have a whole bag of wine corks here to work with. Iain Short
shapes
them with sand paper and a drill to make floats (very cool things). I
stay
away from power tools with the kids around distracting me it could get
messy. :) Hopefully he will see this thread and explain how he does
it.
