Hi Hans,

Great photos as always - these Spanish traditional wets are interesting. I tied up a bunch like those for an upcoming trip, and I thought they were called Palarettas?

On the topic of CdL: at the last Danish FFF Festival I talked to a Danish tier, Steen Ellemoos, who showed me some CdL feathers when he saw me using CdL from a Whiting tailing pack. He raises the birds himself, in Denmark, and he's pretty proud of the CdL he gets from them. The feathers looked very nice, but the best part was his account of how he harvested those feathers. He wants to be as humane as possible, so he does not pluck the feathers from the live bird, but cuts them off with a pair of scissors.

He does that once a year in December, at full moon, and each and every time it ends in blood shed. Not that he hurts the birds - they hurt him, and they put up such a fight that he has cut himself with the scissors more than once. These are real fighting roosters!

Hans has another tier on his site specializing in CdL flies.
The CdL caddis that I tied is similar to the ones he tied, except I
roped the body.

PS How many of you remember Swannundaze?

I do. Unlike you, I never had any use for it. Have my stash buried deep somewhere in my 'archive'. If it ever surfaces, I will keep you in mind ;-)

Cheers,
Hans
