I've been
waiting for this for a long time now. When I moved, my whole stack of feathers
disappeared and I had to build it up from scratch. And with a limited wallet I
had to make priorities...which gave an indian result when it came to the
rooster department. Then my physical condition made me have to take a break from
the fly-fishing and to just tying flies without being able to use them became to
depressing, so everything went down in the cellar for some
years.
Now
I'm better, so the vice is back on the table...though also unemployed so I've
still been using those indian "biproducts" (while I've been drewling
in front of quality hackle PICTURES on the Internet).
When
someone said quality hackles before, the word Metz was the first thing I thought
of...I'd never seen a Whiting before. But today, there is something NICE waiting
for me in the kitchen. A Whiting pelt...and this time I can look at it in 3-D.
Of course I had to make some priorities this time too, so I didn't stretch
further than bronze...but it sure looked good enough to me. And since I'm not a
professional, I also took a combo one (grizzly-brown). 50% less of both
colors...but by looking at it, there seemed to be quite an amount of feathers
good enough to be used. I'm rather convinced this will last a good
while...
Now I'm
heading for the vice...and this time I will be tying with a smile that streches
from ear to ear.
Have a good
day, everyone. I'm sure my own will be...
