Hi Nick,

I've been sitting quietly by while DonO and a few of the other PHD's of Banter drag my name through the mud. ;-) If you'll notice, at the end of most of Dr. Dimento's posts, he takes a pot shot at yours truly. Or take Rob Blomquist, who has been off the list for a year. When he signed back on the first thing he did was say how much he missed everyone, even JIMMY D. Or Allan Fish who counts his day a total loss unless he gets one really good barb into my hide. The very idea of his saying that I'm on my computer all the time. Not so, I don't take it to bed or fishing with me. LOL I could go on indefinitely, but I think you get my drift.

Anyway, Nick. As one of the Elder-est of the VFB and well known Carmudgeon of the list I extend my congratulations to you for choosing the VFB. In my humble opinion, it's second to no other Email List - period! Like Sally Fields said when she accepted her Academy Award, "They Love Me, They Really Love me" I guess it's true for if they didn't like me, they wouldn't pick on me like they do. When they quit picking, I'll know something is up. Probably it will be a bunch of them ganging up and getting ready to jump me "EN MASSE". :-P

Enjoy yourself, Nick. Many people on the list are special friends of mine and my wife Jody. They were especially helpful to Jody during her bout with breast cancer. Their emails, get well cards and special flies they tied for her made a tremendous difference in her recovery. As much as DonO picks on me, he's still my best BEST BUD on the VFB, no matter what he says to or about me. I respect his gift of humor and his unlimited knowledge of fly tying and also his insights into life itself. The ability to make people laugh at themselves is special. The VFB can get awfully dry at times and that's when you'll see DonO and me along with several others endeavor to lighten things up a little.

Cheers !

JIMMY D

Thanks Don...
Nice to hear some comforting words...and nice to know that I have at least
one here who knows what I'm going through.
This all started with me sitting thriving in different patterns on the
web...and that was what made me find this place. When I later joined this
list and met all these nice people, I just thought 'WOW...IS THIS TRUE??'.
Now it seems I hit bulls-eye for sure. This went far BEYOND just fly-tyer
teachers... I actually found an elite Demento-mentor too. Hard to find today
(they seem reluctant to brag with that type of talent).
I'm where I belong now, that's for sure...

MeddelandeNick, Not to worry, as women are attracted to rebels and hard-luck cases. I'm both and have been married for 30 years come June 15th. Not to say I've been nothing but joy for my poor bride, but she sticks with me anyway. Multiple personalities are the key. Keeps her guessing.

Sounds like you're a sincere and honest guy. No more of that. Definite
turn-off for the babes. Can't be a rebel or Demento-protege with that
attitude. Just remember that 'still waters run deep'. So be calm, cool
and collected on the outside, while the Dr. Demento raging within seeks
opportune moments to jump out and terrorize the world. As you progress in
Dementoism, you'll develope new and different alter-egos to spring on her
and make her life interesting.

Just develop a sinister laugh so she'll know there some new mystery just
waiting to be revealed. She'll stick around to see.

Your last post was definitely a positive move towards Dimentoism. Just
leave out the dream portion. JimmyD does.

DonO

Hi Dean... Now you scare me. This is a disease I have been fighting for years... and yes, I was single for a long while. You now confirm that this can be a rejecting factor, so you got me wondering if THIS was what kept me single for so long. I have a girlfriend today and that should really be something that would calm me down... but she's from England. Can it be that this IS a rejecting factor... and she found out too late. Have I got a fiance sitting in my livingroom, being sad because she can't afford to return home???

I will try to calm down. I can live with her returning to England... but it
would strike me hard if I got kicked out here.

Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeease accept me!!! I promise I will try to stay in DonO's
shadow...

/Nick
