I have had bluegills in an aquarium. I started out with a 1 1/2 inch gill that I caught on a size 18 fly. I returned him to the same water he came from as a 4 inch fish.

And believe it or not, Tony is right. You need a permit to do so. Since I already had a permit to collect macroinvertebrates, I had gills added to my permit.

I have used gills in school settings for both temperature / respiration labs for high school students and to demonstrate feeding activity.

I had gills in with some snails and they got along until the gill sucked the snail out of the shell.

Del,
Check with fish and game about regulations pertaining to keeping game fish in the aquarium.
Just trying to keep you out of trouble.

I was wondering if I could keep 'gills in a 55 gallon aquarium that I have? If so, how many would you suggest? Will the setup I have for Chilids be sufficient? And can I fly fish in it??
Also, I was informed last nigh that my stepfather got me a job at the tire center he works at. So to all the Tandem swappers, the flies will be in the mail after my first check.
