If there's a live minnow shop, just ask him to ask his bait-getter to net you a few small crawfish, like a dozen, next time he goes out.  They should cooperate.  Ask to talk to his supplier.  If you can deal with him directly, he is in it for the money, and may want to net you whatever you want to spice up your tank.  Baby soft-shell turtles are wondeful as tank pets, as they are completely aquatic and don't need to drag out.  Alligator snappers (baby) are another.  Just give them a perch within neck-shot of the surface, like a submerged log.  They'll eat the minnows and craws, which are replaceable.  It's fun to have lots of life in the tank, with the balance of nature happening as you watch.

Get all at the bait shop when you pick up some worms for your next bluegill/catfish outing with Jimmy.
