Your mention of filling hollow lace with oil is intriguing.
I have been using olive oil filled larva lace for over a year now, haven't had any fish teeth puncture it either. The best way to fill it is cut a length, get 2 pair of hemostats (ones with the smooth jaw or it will "cut" the lace), pour a little oil into a cup or whatever, use the lace like a straw and when it fills crimp both ends with the hemostats and the tie an over hand knot onto each end so you will not loose and oil when you take the hemostats off.
