Jimmy, was cleaning out a file today and found my Philmont map with out Trek
on it, along with my "Philmont Press card". Thought since you like to fish
there would give you the route we took on our trek.
We went in at sixmile gate to Indian writings camp, then on to Hart
Peak, ponil camp, pueblano camp, Aztec Ridge to Baldy Camp, (Side day hike
to the top of Baldy), Head of Dean camp, Cimarron River camp, upper bench
camp, Ute Gulch Commissary, past window rock to Hunting Lodge, Cyphers Mine
camp, through Comanche Pass to black mountain camp, across Shaefers pass to
the Tooth of Time back to Tent City.
This is just the rout, I have all the actual camps circled where we over
nighted, just listed the rest so you would be able to follow on your map.
Looking at it now I don't think I could make such a trip, I need to try to
figure out just how many miles we traveled on that hike. Seams it was close
to a hundred but I might be wrong. remember a lot of "Back country" streams
that looked good to fish. Such memories, still have some photos from back
then.
