Wow, I just tired up a Lil' Black Caddis on a #-16. The smallest hackle I could find was really a size-14.
So what's the trick? Seriously, I am thinking that one must tie tippet on each fly, them in a leader wallet. And when you are on the stream it wouldn't be that hard to do a blood knot. Or even a loop? Maybe that�s it you just tie each fly on a leader that has a loop. You could do several then on the stream Walla...
