  It may be that in the settings of one of those two programs (especially RealPlayer), 
you have a checkbox marked for "automatically sign on to internet when program is 
launched" or something similar to that effect... a simple un-checking should do the 
trick, IF that is what causes the problem.  I'm not familiar with Real Player's 
settings, as I am on a Linux system most of the time, but I'm thinking that all you 
have to do is right-click on the icon for the program, select "properties" or 
"settings" or something of the sort, and see what happens from there.
