Nick,
The rules are fairly simple. Topics for discussion are to be flyfishing
related- no religion or politics. An announcement about an operation or a
request for prayers is not a topic for discussion. Well-wishes from
friends, be it prayers or emotional support, are not topics for discussion.
They do, however, add to the comradery of this list, which is why we chose
it over all others. That is why replies can be made on list, as we are all
upbuilt by the caring responses from others. Those who don't want to read
these posts can use the delete key. But even an athiest may want to send
well wishes or emotional support. That's why it's important to keep the
subject line in context with the post. It's a courtesy to all.

Like I said before, when it gets out of hand, Byard takes care of it. We
are not to police his list, and I've had my 'hand slapped' for that, too
(making me a vfb renegade). Much of the friction that I've seen on the list
the past 7 years has come from people posting opinions about things that
have nothing to do with flyfishing. 'The request for prayers' has now
become a topic. It shouldn't be and it needs to stop. Opinion comments
breed more opinion comments, and things get quickly out of hand. This is
not our site- It's Byard's. His rules have made it a great place for all of
us to hang out and find friends and an extended family. If he sees things
that are detrimental to what he wants in here, he puts a halt to it, even if
it takes removing someone.

Steve (and all),
...

This is a group of friends... and making it obvious by actually showing
this in words, can't be something one should be afraid of.

I didn't set up the rules for the list and might not be as familiar with
them as the rest of you. So if I'm wrong here, I would really much like to
know.
