Mike, I live in Southern Rhode Island near Jamestown and Newport. I'm on the Board of Directors for United Fly Tyers in Rhode Island as well as an instructor for them. We have a lot of fishing in the area. No salmon though but they aren't far away.
I've gotten a lot of really nice comments. Only a few critiques off list so I think the classic tyers are on vacation for labor day. I did forget to mention that the beautiful seal fur used on this fly is a product of a fellow VFB'er ... Bill Bailey. He has been dying materials to match colors in the original flies from Blacker's book. It's a lot of work and he has been very helpful to me. I've also gotten a lot of helpful advice from a few of the classic tyers on this list.
Iain Short started this bug in the worst way when he mailed me a full dress Jock Scott he had tied. I had just joined the VFB and was new to tying. That was such a special gift. The wealth of knowledge on this list is incredible.
Thanks again,
Deb

Deb,

This is beautiful. Do you live in RI?

Mike

I just pulled up our UFT site and they put up a picture of one of
my flies. You can finally have a place to check out one of my
salmon flies. This one was tied in a class I took along with a
few other UFT members and Charlie Chute in April. They are still
a work in progress but I just thought some of you might enjoy a
peek anyway. This is the second year we had this class with him
and it was a really fun day. He is a really good teacher to tie
with. http://www.uftri.com/
Enjoy,
Deb
