Tom, I've been putting leader to fly line for years but do it a bit
differently. I take a standard sewing needle, hold it in a hemostast or
pliers, and then heat it with a Bic. At this point, shove the hot needle
into the end of the fly line, being careful that it melts the inner core
without sticking through the outside coating of the fly line. Let this cool.
Then put a drop of super glue in that hole, stick the leader in and you have
a wonderful, hump free connection. This was shown me by my first tying
mentor..and I've used it for 20 years with no knot failures..ever. Joyce
