Here's another problem I get off and on. Sometimes a hackle will go vertical with little angular mis-direction. Other times, the danged hackle will splay at 45 degrees or worse at the wrong time. Would the list please give the correct specifics as to how to angle, choose, tie-in, prepare the hackle, prepare the surface hackle is to be applied to and so forth? I've been taught by a lot of tyers as to these methods but if a bunch of you just take a stab at the part(s) you feel real good about, I'd like to look again at how I'm doing and the newbies might get a lesson along the way.
Let's try to limit this to choosing the hackle, finding the tie in angle/point and wrapping it, with pointers on the associated stuff. In other words, keep it simple but be thorough as you have the patience for.
I don't mean to be so confusing, I just am!
