Another thing Rene. I use an alligator clip for hackle pliers when winding my hackle. The plastic kind, with the push down clip exposer. It's actually a electrical test clip. They're usually red, or black and you can get them at Radio Shack or other electrical shops/stores. They "almost" NEVER slip, and work with almost any size hackle/stem. I may be using Starling for very small soft hackles, (down to size 20) or i may be using Guinea or Pheasent for my "Big" flies. The clip does the job. mark.......

Rene,

The North American standard for VHS tapes is NTSC and another standard is PAL. I think the European standard is PAL. You might have a compatibility problem for tapes. I don't know the standards for DVD though. There is a conversion method.

Mark,

that's right, hackling can be very divers. I'm currently running through a book about the history of soft hackled flies. (Book was recently reviewed on Globalflyfi). It covers 200 years of writing about softhackles, referencing a lot of old books. Some of the books discuss dry as well. In some older books they tie in the hackle by the tip and wrap them using the steem as handle.
I was demonstrated this for soft hackles by Jeff Hintz during the sowbug. I tie them now this way.

Maybe I can look for the videos, when I'm over there for the next time. Was unable to make detailed plans, though.

Rene
