I have had good success with spider flies made by cutting a circle of a 
styrofoam coffee cup and attaching it to the hook by putting it inside of a 
small sack made of tulle.

Perhaps tulle could also be used to make booby flies as a substitue for 
stocking material?  Tule is available at craft stores and in the bridal 
section of fabric stores.  Or contact me off list and we can swap some tulle 
for ???.
