Mark.& /Nick,
Henk is right about the method being reverse of a standard 3 fly team here in the UK.
As for the set up try a leader of around 12 to 14 feet. The dry fly or Booby is furthest from the fly line, at the point postion. The middle dropper is around 4ft back from that and the top dropper another 4ft back from that. Dropper length varies anything from 10 to 6" long.
This Washing line method is usually used here on reservoirs (impoundments) when fishing from a boat and drifting down the wind.
It can be used from the bankside and as yet I have never tried it on a river. If you are trying it on a river you would possibly need to shorten the leader and dropper distances.
Just dont get the droppers too close to each other as they may tangle and
that usually means new leaders altogther !! The Water Knot or Surgeons Knot are the knots I use for droppers. Just make sure that you use the
nylon that is hanging down the leader towards the point fly as the dropper. I have made the mistake of using the nylon facing up to the fly line and had fish break off where the nylon comes down against the knot.
Keith
Henk, i'm gonna give that a try. Can you tell me, how far apart the two
droppers are, and how far the closest one to the dry fly is from the dry
fly? And how long the droppers are? Might be fun to give the fish three
possible meals. mark.....
