thanks to all who respond on and off list.
I was really unsure about the quality of the Orvis waders. I thought I would better go with the Simms. The local shop seems to sell Orvis only. And I would like to support the local ones. For waders and other clothing I don't like mail orders, I want to checlk first, if they fit.
I think I'll have a close look at the Orvis ones. Allan said, he had good success with the Clearwater line.
Have other experience with this line?

Hi Tom,
I've gone through a couple of Orvis lightweight breathables myself within two years. The leaks are usually within the neoprene booty too. I saw that some of the fly shops carry a spray-on product known as Revivex that is used to repel water from fabrics. I would think Scotchguard would also work.
I'm using Hodgeman Neoprenes and the knee guard rip out by the end of second trip just below the stitching. Now I've got a swell knee pocket to hold my stuff, LOL. Ironically, I still have a pair of 15 year old Red Ball Neoprenes that still work.
So I'm looking for a new pair of breathables this winter also.
